Operation: Liberate
There are 27 million slaves in the world today, which is more than were ever traded in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Some 2 million of those are children who have been forced into prostitution. These slaves are tricked, forced, bullied, or sold by their parents into forced labor camps or brothels.
Christ calls us to be a light to the world, a city on the hill. He says that whenever we give a glass of water unto the least of these, we've done it for Him. How much more love will we show Him by liberating a child from sexual slavery and making sure they receive physical and spiritual care and protection.
SOF has taken action action to join the fight against this vile practice. We have launched a liberation team to perform undercover operations, liberate women and children that have been enslaved for profit through sexual exploitation, place the freed victims in quality aftercare facilities, and follow up with prosecutions for the pimps.
We have just finished our training and research phase for this project. We have poured through thousands and thousands of reports, studied international legal codes, and received training from different organizations that are experts in their fields.
We have selected Costa Rica as our initial venue of operations as there are currently an estimated 10,000 - 20,000 children right now being exploited for profit in that country. We have established numerous key relationships with high-level government officials in Costa Rica who are enthusiastic about our involvement and have pledged support for our effort.
This project should be fully operational and conducting operations by the end of 2010 provided we receive the necessary funding to move forward.
We do need your help. While generous donors have helped us with a significant portion of our budget so far, we are in real need of financial sponsors to help reach our goal of becoming fully operational.
